The primary objective of this gathering was to formulate a collective strategy aimed at preventing illicit cross-border activities and enhancing coordination among various intelligence and security agencies.

The meeting, officially termed the functional-level lead intelligence agency coordination session, was presided over by Saroj Kumar Thakur, DIG of the SSB sector headquarters in Muzaffarpur. Representatives from multiple partner intelligence and security agencies actively participated in the deliberations.

  • Issuing directives for heightened vigilance and increased patrolling along the India-Nepal border areas.
  • Coordinated actions to curb liquor smuggling and intensified surveillance of individuals crossing the border.
  • Enhancing coordination and joint operations with the Nepal Police to ensure seamless security efforts.
  • Strategies to prevent the smuggling of arms, counterfeit currency, prohibited items, and human trafficking.
  • Measures to counter religious extremism, Maoist activities, potential terrorist threats, and prevent encroachments on the international border.

Among the key attendees were Yogindra Kumar, SP of Madhubani; Govind Singh Bhandari, commandant of the 48th Battalion; commanding officers from the 71st, 20th, and 51st battalions; Deepak Kumar, sub-divisional officer of Jaynagar; Raghav Dayal, SDPO of Jaynagar; Amit Kumar, SDPO of Benipatti; and officers from other collaborating agencies.

In his address, DIG Saroj Kumar Thakur emphasized the historical relations between India and Nepal. He stated that organizing such meetings is essential for strengthening ties between the two nations while ensuring peace and security in the border regions. Thakur highlighted that the SSB maintains effective monitoring of illegal activities in the area and commended the role of partner agencies in these ongoing efforts.
