Shoolini Fair Inaugurated by Health Minister in Solan
Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Dr Dhani Ram Shandil officially inaugurated the three-day historic Shoolini Fair in Solan on Friday. The fair is dedicated to Maa Shoolini, the presiding deity of Solan, and is a vibrant expression of faith and devotion among locals.
Palanquin Procession Marks Main Attraction
The centerpiece of the fair is the palanquin procession of the goddess. The procession begins at the Maa Shoolini Temple, winds through major areas of Solan city, and culminates at the temple of her elder sister, Maa Durga, in Ganj Bazaar. This ritual underscores the region's deep religious traditions and public faith.
Minister Welcomes Procession, Prays for Prosperity
On the occasion, Dr Shandil welcomed the palanquin of the goddess in accordance with traditional customs. He offered prayers for the good fortune, prosperity, and happiness of all people. The minister also congratulated residents on the fair receiving national-level status, highlighting its significance in showcasing the region's rich cultural heritage. He expressed hope that the festival would bring renewed enthusiasm and joy into everyone's lives.
