Narnaul Administration Gears Up for Pre-Monsoon Drain Cleaning

Deputy Commissioner Leads Surprise Inspections

In anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season, the Narnaul district administration has intensified efforts to clean the sewerage system and drains across the city. Deputy Commissioner Anupama Anjali conducted a surprise inspection on Saturday to assess ground-level preparations and ensure timely completion of desilting work. The inspection covered multiple parts of the city, focusing on areas prone to waterlogging.

During the inspection, Anjali instructed officials to expedite the cleaning process and streamline operations. She emphasized that the state government has issued clear directives to ensure the sanitation system is in perfect condition before the rains arrive. “The Chief Minister has given clear instructions that before the arrival of monsoon, the sanitation system in all towns and cities should be in a perfect condition so that there is no waterlogging during the rains,” she told officials on site.

Ban on Manual Sewer Cleaning

The Deputy Commissioner explicitly warned against manual cleaning of sewerage lines, stating that strict action would be taken against any official found violating this directive. She reiterated that all cleaning must be carried out using mechanical methods to ensure worker safety and efficiency. The administration has developed a comprehensive action plan to monitor the sanitation system effectively.

To strengthen oversight, IAS and HCS officers have been appointed as nodal officers for specific areas within the district. These officers are tasked with regularly inspecting the cleaning and desilting work in their assigned zones. “All these officers will visit their assigned areas and closely inspect the cleaning and desilting work. Any deficiencies discovered during the inspection will be rectified promptly, and all nodal officers will submit their detailed reports to the Deputy Commissioner’s office by June 30,” Anjali stated.

SDM Inspects Municipal Wards

Simultaneously, Narnaul Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Anirudh Yadav conducted field visits to several wards under the Narnaul Municipal Council. He inspected small and large drains and sewers to evaluate the cleaning mechanism. Yadav stressed that all drains and sewers must be thoroughly cleaned before the rainy season begins. He warned officials against any laxity or negligence and instructed them to ensure that agencies contracted for drain cleaning complete their work within the stipulated timeframe.

The district administration will compile a detailed report on the ground-level preparations and submit it to the state government. This report will include findings from inspections by nodal officers and recommendations for further action. The move aims to prevent waterlogging and reduce the risk of seasonal diseases during the monsoon period.

Comprehensive Action Plan in Place

The administration’s proactive approach includes setting accountability for each official and ensuring regular monitoring. The nodal officers’ reports, due by June 30, will be consolidated and forwarded to the state authorities. This structured oversight is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the pre-monsoon cleaning drive and mitigate urban flooding issues in Narnaul.
