Water Resources Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Thursday inspected preparations for the inauguration of newly installed crest gates at the Tungabhadra reservoir, scheduled for June 25, during his visit to Koppal district.
Event Venue and Arrangements
He visited the Munirabad Government School grounds, where the event stage is being set up, and reviewed arrangements such as traffic management, road access, and barricading. The minister also instructed officials to ensure seamless connectivity between the Tungabhadra dam premises and the venue.
Key Projects Discussed
Speaking to reporters, Reddy said he, along with the Chief Minister, discussed key irrigation projects, including Mahadayi and Mekedatu, with the Union Water Resources Minister.
Gate Replacement Details
He added that the replacement of the reservoir gates was taken up after gate No. 19 was washed away last year, and the work has now been completed at a cost of Rs 51 crore. The new gates are expected to last 55 to 60 years.
Chief ministers and ministers from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are likely to attend the event, where inter-state water-sharing issues may also be discussed.
