BJP MLA Surendra Maithani demands free medical treatment for Kanpur advocates
BJP MLA seeks free medical care for Kanpur lawyers

Kanpur: BJP MLA Surendra Maithani on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on behalf of advocates, demanding cashless and free medical treatment for lawyers and their families or their inclusion under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

The memorandum was submitted by the Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti. A delegation of advocates met the MLA at his residence on Thursday morning and urged him to raise their demand before the state government.

Responding to the demand, Maithani said he himself belongs to the legal profession and is fully aware of the conditions and problems faced by advocates. He assured the delegation that he would personally hand over the memorandum to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and request him to consider the demand sympathetically.

Advocates across Kanpur have been facing financial hardships, especially regarding healthcare. The inclusion under Ayushman Bharat would provide them access to quality medical services without out-of-pocket expenses. The delegation expressed hope that the state government would take positive action on their demand.

Background of the Demand

The Adhivakta Kalyan Sangharsh Samiti has been actively advocating for better welfare measures for lawyers. This demand comes amid rising healthcare costs and the need for social security for legal professionals. The committee believes that cashless treatment would significantly reduce the burden on advocates and their families.

MLA's Assurance

Surendra Maithani, who is also a lawyer by profession, emphasized that he understands the challenges faced by the legal community. He reiterated his commitment to taking up the matter with the Chief Minister and ensuring that the concerns of advocates are addressed at the highest level.

The advocates are hopeful that the state government will consider their request, as similar benefits have been extended to other professional groups in the past. The memorandum is now with the Chief Minister's office, awaiting a response.
