In a shocking incident from Gujarat's Amreli district, a 28-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his own father, with the crime remaining concealed for over a month and a half. The Dhari police finally recovered the buried body and arrested the accused father this week, unraveling a tragic tale of domestic strife.
The Grisly Discovery and Arrest
The case came to light on Thursday when the Dhari police, acting on a tip-off, exhumed a body buried on the outskirts of Bhader village in Dhari taluka. The deceased was identified as Hitesh Sejaliya, a 28-year-old resident of Bhader village. Following the discovery, the police swiftly arrested his father, Vashram Sejaliya.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jayveer Gadhvi of the Dhari division explained the breakthrough. "The crime came to light after some farm labourers reported a strong foul smell emanating from the field and began probing the area," ASP Gadhvi told the Times of India. "Upon digging, they discovered a body. Labourers then alerted the police."
Investigation Reveals a Pattern of Conflict
Police investigations pieced together a grim sequence of events. The alleged murder took place around 9 pm on November 24 at the family's residence. According to the police, Hitesh was unmarried and had an addiction to alcohol. This addiction frequently led to heated arguments with his parents, causing persistent domestic discord.
Investigators suspect that the father, Vashram, finally snapped due to frustration over his son's behavior. In a fit of rage, he is alleged to have strangled Hitesh with a rope. To hide his deed, Vashram then carried the body and buried it on the fringes of an agricultural field, where it lay undetected for one-and-a-half months.
Legal Repercussions and Case Registration
The Dhari police have registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) against Vashram Sejaliya. The complaint was filed by Inspector K B Jadeja. The accused has been booked under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community in Bhader village, highlighting the extreme consequences of unresolved family conflicts and addiction issues. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
