Relative Arrested in Ballia for Varanasi Rape and Blackmail Case

Police in Ballia have arrested a man accused of a horrific crime in Varanasi. The arrest follows serious allegations of rape and blackmail involving threats to frame the victim's family.

Details of the Alleged Crime

A 29-year-old woman, originally from a village under Dokati police station, was living in a rented house in the Bairiya police station area of Varanasi district. According to official reports, the incident began in February last year.

The accused, identified as Manoj Yadav (40), is a relative of the woman. He visited her rented accommodation during that time. Police say he used intimidation tactics to commit the crime.

Manoj allegedly threatened to implicate the woman's family in a false criminal case. He reportedly demonstrated this threat by placing a noose at the scene. Under this coercion, he then raped her multiple times, according to the complaint.

Social Media Blackmail Adds to the Ordeal

The woman's ordeal did not end there. She further alleged that Manoj Yadav recorded a video of the assault. He then used this video as additional leverage.

The accused uploaded the obscene video to social media platforms, according to the victim's statement to authorities. This act compounded the blackmail and humiliation she faced.

Police Action and Arrest

The victim filed a formal complaint, leading to the registration of a case against Manoj Yadav on January 3rd. Ballia police swiftly began their investigation.

Ballia Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh provided details of the operation. "Our team arrested the accused from Ibrahimabad village in the Bairiya police station area," Singh stated. Following the arrest, authorities processed the legal formalities and sent the accused to jail.

This case highlights the severe misuse of legal threats and digital platforms for criminal exploitation. The Varanasi and Ballia police coordination led to the swift apprehension of the suspect, bringing a measure of justice to the proceedings.
