Mumbai: Security protocols were activated after the Azad Maidan police server room received an email on Thursday warning of a bomb planted at the Esplanade Court premises. The threat email was sent from a fake VPN address, and police later determined it was a hoax. No court proceedings were interrupted, a police officer confirmed, noting that such threat emails are common and "never serious."
On December 18, 2025, similar hoax threat emails were received by the Bombay High Court as well as the Esplanade and Bandra courts. The latest email was received by Azad Maidan police server room staff on Thursday, prompting a standard security response.
The police emphasized that these threats are often sent from anonymous sources and are not credible. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the email, but authorities believe it to be a prank.
