The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned two former Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) of Kolkata Police in connection with the RG Kar case. The agency has also summoned the former Police Chief for questioning next week.
Senior IPS Officers Suspended
Three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers were suspended for their alleged mishandling and dereliction of duty during the initial phase of the investigation into the crime. The suspensions were ordered following a preliminary inquiry that revealed lapses in the probe.
CBI Investigation Intensifies
The CBI is conducting a thorough investigation into the case, which has drawn widespread attention. The questioning of the former DCPs is part of the agency's efforts to ascertain the facts and identify any negligence or misconduct by law enforcement officials.
According to sources, the former Police Chief has been asked to appear before the investigating team next week. The CBI is expected to record his statement and seek clarification on the actions taken by the police in the initial stages of the case.
Allegations of Mishandling
The suspended officers are accused of failing to properly handle the investigation, leading to delays and potential loss of evidence. The CBI has been under pressure to expedite the inquiry and ensure accountability.
The developments come amid growing public demand for justice in the RG Kar case. The CBI has assured that the investigation will be conducted impartially and all those found guilty will face legal consequences.
