Mumbai Police have seized a bike and several hoodies belonging to Chetan Chaudhary, a key suspect in the murder case of businessman Ketan Agarwal. The seizure marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, which has been intensifying over the past week.
Details of the Seizure
According to police sources, the bike was recovered from a garage in suburban Mumbai, while the hoodies were found at Chaudhary's residence. Forensic teams are examining the items for potential evidence, including DNA traces and fibers that could link Chaudhary to the crime scene. The police believe that the bike may have been used to transport Agarwal's body after the murder.
"The seizure of these items is crucial for our investigation," said a senior police officer on condition of anonymity. "We are analyzing them thoroughly to establish the sequence of events leading to the murder."
Background of the Case
Ketan Agarwal, a 45-year-old real estate developer, was found dead in his office in Andheri East on June 20. Initial post-mortem reports indicated blunt force trauma to the head. Chetan Chaudhary, a former business associate, was arrested two days later based on CCTV footage showing him near the office at the time of the murder.
Police have since recovered a blood-stained hammer from a drain near the crime scene, which is believed to be the murder weapon. Chaudhary has been remanded to police custody until July 5.
Impact on the Investigation
The discovery of the bike and hoodies has provided investigators with new leads. "We are now able to reconstruct the movement of the suspect on the day of the crime," the officer added. "The hoodies may also contain trace evidence that could corroborate witness statements."
Meanwhile, Agarwal's family has demanded a speedy trial. "We hope the police will leave no stone unturned to ensure justice for Ketan," said his brother, Rohan Agarwal.
