Jodhpur: The controversy surrounding the upcoming film 'Kala Hiran', which is reportedly based on Rajasthan's high-profile blackbuck poaching case, has escalated after producer Amit Jyani claimed he received death threats from phone numbers based in Pakistan.
FIR Filed at Ratanada Police Station
Jyani lodged an FIR at the Ratanada police station on Thursday evening. SHO Dinesh Lakhawat confirmed on Friday that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Details of the Threats
In his complaint, Jyani stated that the caller threatened to kill him and warned him to abandon the 'Kala Hiran' project or face serious repercussions. In a video statement, Jyani alleged that he has been receiving threats for the past two years, including threats of beheading, murder, blowing up his house, and petrol bomb attacks.
He also mentioned that he had received similar threats earlier during the shooting of 'Udaipur Files' in Udaipur, and that the matter was reported to the police at that time.
Police Investigation
According to police, the caller identified himself as Shehzad Bhatti, claiming to be a gangster from Pakistan, and repeated the warning to abandon the film. Lakhawat said police are verifying the caller's identity and tracing the origin of the calls.
Allegations Against Salman Khan
Jyani further alleged, without providing evidence, that the threats were made at the behest of actor Salman Khan. Police stated that no official evidence has been produced so far to support that claim. Separately, Salman Khan has moved court seeking prohibitory orders against Jyani to stop the film, which is based on the alleged poaching of blackbucks by Khan and other actors during the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in Jodhpur in 1998.
