Delhi Woman Found With Throat Slit: Husband Arrested From Mumbai After 4 Days
Delhi Woman Murder: Husband Held in Mumbai After 4 Days

New Delhi: Four days after a 30-year-old woman was found murdered at her home in east Delhi’s Kailash Nagar, police have arrested her husband from Mumbai. The victim, Rukshar, was discovered with her throat slit on June 13 at her residence in Chanderpuri under the Gandhi Nagar police station area. Police seized a blood-stained knife, suspected to be the murder weapon, and registered a case of murder.

Investigation and Arrest

During the investigation, CCTV footage showed that her husband, Khalid Navi, fled the spot after the incident. Investigators said he switched off his mobile phone, avoided electronic communication, and left no digital trail, making it difficult to track him through technical means. Police relied on human intelligence and field inquiries instead. Teams traced his links in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, Hubballi in Karnataka, Mumbai, and Goa, and carried out searches in Delhi.

After three days, police developed a lead suggesting the accused might contact his brother. He was apprehended from Mumbai on June 16 while allegedly trying to conceal his identity.

Interrogation and Motive

During interrogation, Navi told police that he had been married to Rukshar for around 15 years and that they had three children. “He claimed that frequent marital disputes over the past year and his suspicion that his wife was in a relationship with another person led to repeated conflicts,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Ajit Kumar Singla.

Police said that on June 13, during an argument while attempting reconciliation, he attacked Rukshar with a knife before fleeing Delhi. He then traveled on multiple trains without tickets and reached Mumbai, where he planned to seek help from his brother to evade arrest.
