DUDA Official and Woman Found Dead in Separate Incidents in Saharanpur
A District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) official and his alleged partner were found dead in separate incidents in Saharanpur district within a span of 10 days. Police have arrested two accused in connection with the case.
Vikrant Singh (37), posted as city manager with the DUDA department in Baghpat, went missing on April 16 under mysterious circumstances. His body was recovered the next day from the Badgaon area of Saharanpur. Even as his family performed the last rites, allegations by his wife, Prachi Singh, brought a new twist. She accused a woman, Rakhi Kashyap (35), of involvement in his disappearance and murder.
During the probe, police found that Vikrant and Rakhi were in a relationship and that he had arranged rented accommodation for her in Baghpat. Rakhi was questioned on April 23, but no conclusive leads emerged at the time.
On April 27, a woman’s body was found in the forests of Rajapur Naugawan under Mirzapur police station limits in Saharanpur. The deceased was later identified as Rakhi Kashyap, who had been named as the prime suspect in Vikrant’s murder.
Police said investigations revealed that on the day of the incident, Rakhi, Vikrant, and two others — Sudharas Chauhan and Kapil Chauhan — were at a farmhouse in Saharanpur. “During the gathering, Rakhi shot Vikrant with her licensed pistol, killing him on the spot,” police said.
“The accused then dumped Vikrant’s body in a river and went absconding. Later, fearing of getting exposed after the body was recovered, Sudharas and Kapil allegedly stabbed Rakhi to death and dumped her body in a forest area,” police added.
Baghpat SP Suraj Rai said, “Both Kapil and Sudharas, residents of Baghpat, have been arrested and handed over to Saharanpur police.”
This case has shocked the local community, highlighting the complex relationships and tragic outcomes. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
