Dumper Spills Gravel on Eastern Peripheral Expressway

A dumper truck allegedly spilled a large quantity of red gravel and stone chips on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida on Thursday, prompting police to deploy a JCB machine to clear the road, officials said.

Incident Details

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Dadri police station, and a purported video of the act later surfaced on social media, according to news agency PTI. In the viral clip, reportedly recorded by a commuter, the dumper driver can be seen driving on the wrong side of the expressway before raising the vehicle's hydraulic lift and unloading stones onto the carriageway.

Police Response

According to police, the gravel was dumped along the stretch between Palwal in Haryana and the Dadri-Sikandrabad section of the expressway, causing inconvenience and posing a potential risk to commuters. Upon receiving information, Dadri police and traffic personnel rushed to the spot and cleared the road with the help of a JCB machine and manual labour to prevent any untoward incident.

"An unidentified dumper truck spilled a large quantity of red gravel and stone chips on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway," police said. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver under relevant sections, and efforts are underway to ascertain his identity, police added.
