Ghaziabad Businessman Critically Stabbed in Office by Helmet-Wearing Assailants
In a shocking early morning attack in Ghaziabad, two men wearing helmets barged into the office of a 55-year-old businessman and stabbed him multiple times on Friday. The victim, Saleem Wastik, was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition before being referred to GTB Hospital in Delhi for advanced treatment.
Details of the Violent Attack
According to Loni Assistant Commissioner of Police Siddharth Gautam, the incident occurred around 6am when police received information from Wastik's neighbor that he had been stabbed and was lying in a pool of blood in his office. A police team immediately reached the spot and transported the injured businessman to a nearby medical facility.
"He received multiple knife injuries to his abdomen and throat and is critical," stated ACP Gautam, emphasizing the severity of the attack.
Initial investigation reveals that two individuals arrived on a motorcycle and parked it outside Wastik's office while wearing helmets. The assailants asked some children who were loitering outside the office to go home before entering the premises where Wastik was sitting on his chair.
Sequence of Events and Police Response
The attackers first began beating Wastik before stabbing him multiple times with a knife. When family members heard the commotion and came running, the men fled the scene on their motorcycle.
"We have formed teams to nab the men. One of the teams is reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas. Police are questioning the neighbors as well," explained ACP Gautam regarding the ongoing investigation.
Wastik's son, Usman, has filed a police complaint suspecting five people to be behind the attack. Authorities have registered a First Information Report at Loni police station charging the unidentified men with attempt to murder and common intention under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Background of the Victim and Possible Motives
Saleem Wastik is a businessman who resides with his family in a two-storeyed house at Ali Garden in Loni. He utilizes the ground floor of his residence as his office for business operations. Notably, Wastik frequently posts videos on social media discussing religious practices and has questioned orthodox ideas in several media interviews and public talks.
His friend Ehsaan commented on the possible motivation behind the attack, stating, "Saleem questions religious fundamentalism and some people do not like it."
The attack has sent shockwaves through the local community, with authorities intensifying their investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this brutal assault on the businessman known for his outspoken views on religious matters.
