Buxar: An attempt to record a video while bathing in a river turned tragic when three teenagers drowned in the Thora river near Sarasati village under Itadhi police station area in Buxar district on Thursday. The boys had ventured into deep water while filming and were swept into danger before they could return to safety.
Incident Details
According to police, the teenagers entered deeper waters while attempting to record a video during their bath. They soon lost their balance and began to drown. A fourth friend, Kalyan Sharma, who remained on the riverbank, said the boys were bathing while holding hands and had asked him to record a video. After handing over the cellphone to him, they moved towards deeper water. Unable to swim, Kalyan could not rescue them and immediately ran to the village to alert their family members.
Rescue Operation
On receiving the information, villagers and family members rushed to the riverbank. Following a search operation that lasted nearly an hour, local divers recovered the three boys from the river. They were taken to Buxar Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared them dead.
Victims Identified
The victims were identified as Shamar Kumar Sharma (13), Krishna Kumar Ram (15) and Dharmveer Kumar (14), all residents of Sarasati Dera village. Shamar, a Class VI student, was the son of Ratnesh Kumar Sharma, a motorcycle mechanic. Krishna, a Class IX student, was the son of late Surendra Prasad Ram, who had worked as a driver for the Itadhi circle officer. Dharmveer was the son of Dharmendra Yadav, a daily-wage worker.
Itadhi SHO Sonu Kumar said the boys had gone to the river for bathing when the incident took place. He confirmed all three bodies had been recovered and post-mortem examinations were being conducted after doctors confirmed the deaths.
