Ghaziabad Girl, 6, Allegedly Beaten to Death by Stepmother in Dasna

A six-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death by her stepmother in Dasna, Ghaziabad, on Monday. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Wave City police station. Police officials confirmed the tragic event and provided details of the case.

Father and Stepmother Detained for Questioning

Police detained the child's father, Akram, and his second wife, Nisha, for questioning. The victim was identified as Shifa, a resident of Dasna. Akram ran a shoe and slipper stall at a weekly market in the area. He lived with Nisha and his three children from his first marriage.

The children included Fiza, aged eight, Shifa, aged six, and Aahil, aged four. Akram's first wife, Tarana alias Gulzar, died of burn injuries in 2022. Her family alleged dowry-related harassment at the time, but no formal complaint was filed. Akram married Nisha, a resident of Kithaur in Meerut, in 2023.

Preliminary Inquiry Reveals Pattern of Abuse

Police said their preliminary inquiry revealed that the children faced alleged abuse after the second marriage. On Monday morning, around 11 am, Akram left for work. Soon after his departure, Nisha allegedly began assaulting Shifa.

When the elder sister, Fiza, tried to intervene, Nisha took Shifa into a room. She locked the door from inside and continued beating the child. The assault lasted for over twenty minutes. Nisha used her hands, legs, and later a stick during the violent episode.

Neighbor's Intervention and Hospital Declaration

Around 1 pm, a neighbor heard the child screaming and knocked on the door. The neighbor found Shifa unconscious and unresponsive. Neighbors immediately alerted the police and rushed the child to a nearby hospital.

Doctors at the hospital examined Shifa and declared her dead. Police officials noted multiple injury marks on the child's body. The body was sent for an autopsy, and authorities are awaiting the official report.

Siblings Report Earlier Complaints and Additional Injuries

Shifa's siblings told police they had complained to their father about Nisha's behavior previously. They said no action was taken despite their reports. Police also found injury marks on Aahil's body during their investigation.

Wave City ACP Priyashri Pal provided these details about the case. Police have informed Tarana's family about the incident. The family is expected to take custody of the surviving children.

Authorities continue questioning Akram and Nisha as the investigation progresses. The case highlights serious concerns about child protection and domestic violence in the region.
