Police in Delhi have confirmed the tragic discovery of a four-year-old girl's body in a drain. The child had been missing from the Kirari area in Northwest Delhi since January 9. Her mother reported the disappearance to the Prem Nagar police station on Friday, expressing fears of a possible kidnapping.
Intensive Search Operation Launched
Authorities registered an FIR based on the mother's complaint and immediately launched a search operation. Multiple police teams worked tirelessly to trace the missing girl. They shared inputs across various agencies to coordinate efforts effectively.
Use of Advanced Technology and Resources
To aid in the search, police employed technical surveillance to track potential leads. A sniffer dog squad and a drone camera were also deployed. These resources helped scan drains and water bodies in and around the Vidhyapati Nagar area of Kirari.
Discovery in the Drain
On Monday, an intensive search was conducted in Vidhyapati Nagar. The child's parents joined the police during this operation. During the search, the girl was found submerged in a drain near Dhruv picket.
Officers immediately pulled her out of the water. Her parents identified her at the spot, confirming her identity. The child was then rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangol Puri for medical attention.
Medical and Police Findings
Doctors at the hospital declared the girl brought dead upon arrival. Police stated that no visible injury marks were found on her body. The body was later shifted to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Forensic Investigation Underway
The Mobile Crime Team and a forensic science laboratory unit from Rohini were called to the scene. They inspected the area, collected evidence, and took photographs to aid in the investigation.
Police have emphasized that further investigation is ongoing. Authorities are working to ascertain the circumstances that led to the child ending up in the drain. They are also examining whether any foul play was involved in this heartbreaking incident.
