A tragic incident in Gujarat's Arvalli district has resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl from severe injuries to her private parts. The alleged attacker, a 35-year-old man known to the victim, has been arrested by the police.
Timeline of a Brutal Assault
The horrifying event took place on December 18 in a village under the Modasa taluka. According to Modasa police, the accused attacked the young girl with a sickle. Initial reports from police sources suggested the girl was abducted before the attack. However, the investigating officer, Modasa rural police inspector K T Gohil, has denied the abduction claim.
Inspector Gohil stated that the accused attacked the victim while she was walking with her mother. He maintained that there was no attempt of rape. "The accused suddenly attacked the girl with the sickle, but the motive is not yet known," Gohil said. He confirmed that a charge of murder will be added against the accused.
A Desperate Fight for Life Across Hospitals
The injured girl was rushed for medical treatment across multiple facilities in a desperate bid to save her life. Her treatment journey was arduous:
- She was first admitted to a government hospital in Modasa.
- She was later shifted to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital.
- Subsequently, she was moved to the Civil Hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad.
- She was later shifted back to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital.
She was discharged from the Himmatnagar Civil Hospital on December 29, but her condition remained critical. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
Police Action and Case Classification
The police acted swiftly, arresting the accused shortly after the incident on December 18. A case has been registered under charges of molestation and assault. Given the nature of the crime, the First Information Report (FIR) has been classified as "sensitive", a category typically applied in cases involving sexual crimes.
