Gurgaon: Midnight Attack on Family, Three Arrested

Gurgaon: An old rivalry allegedly led to a midnight attack on a family in Arjun Nagar, where a group of youths assaulted family members and pelted their house with bricks and stones, damaging property and leaving several people injured. Police have arrested three accused in connection with the incident.

According to police, the attack took place around 12:30 am on Thursday when Chirag, a resident of Arjun Nagar, was returning home. As he approached his residence, he was intercepted by eight to ten youths who arrived on three to four motorcycles and began assaulting him.

Hearing the commotion, Chirag’s family members, including his mother and brother, rushed out of the house. The attackers allegedly assaulted them as well before targeting the house with bricks and stones. Doors, windows, and other household property were damaged in the attack, police said. Several family members sustained injuries and were also allegedly threatened.

Residents reported panic in the area after more than a dozen masked men allegedly attacked the family using bricks and sticks.

“A case has been registered at New Colony police station under relevant sections of law following the complaint. During the investigation, a team from Arjun Nagar police post arrested three accused on Thursday,” Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson, said.

The accused have been identified as Ashish (26) and Mohit alias Thaggi (25), both residents of Manohar Nagar, and Rohan (20), a resident of Jharsa. A motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the offence was recovered from their possession.

During questioning, the accused disclosed that one of their associates had a long-standing rivalry with Chirag. The accused were produced before a local court and further legal proceedings are under way. Police said efforts are continuing to identify and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the incident. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the BNS.
