Yamunanagar: A man who attempted to pass off his wife's death as an accident was arrested for her murder in a village in Haryana's Yamunanagar district on Thursday, police said.
Darshan Lal, a resident of Gadhola village, had informed relatives over the phone that his wife, Mahendro Devi, died after falling from a water tank. However, his daughter, Prachi, lodged a complaint with the police, alleging foul play.
Prachi stated that when she returned home on Wednesday, she found her mother lying dead in the verandah with injury marks around her neck. She accused her father of beating her mother regularly.
Yamunanagar police from Chhapar police station apprehended Darshan Lal near a toll plaza. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody.
