The Special Task Force (STF) of Bihar Police, in coordination with Jharkhand Police, uncovered an illegal arms manufacturing unit in Sahibganj district on Thursday. The raid, conducted under the Ranga police station limits, led to the seizure of over a dozen semi-finished firearms and advanced weapon-making machinery.
Factory Location and Raid Details
The illegal factory was operating from a house situated near Kendua Aamgachhi Eidgah. According to police sources, the location was disclosed by a suspected criminal who had been apprehended in Patna a few days earlier. The raiding team had to break open four locks to gain entry into the premises. Inside, officers discovered a fully equipped setup for manufacturing illegal firearms, including multiple lathe machines, metal melting equipment, and modern tools used for producing country-made pistols. However, no occupants were present at the time of the raid.
Seized Items and Evidence
During the search operation, law enforcement officials seized approximately 16 semi-finished pistols, magazines, and a substantial quantity of raw materials and equipment intended for the production of illegal firearms. The scale of the operation suggests that this factory was part of a larger inter-state illegal arms supply network. Police sources indicated that local residents had reported suspicious activities at the house and noted that outsiders had recently purchased land and settled in the area.
Owner Identity and Investigation
The owner of the house has not been formally identified, but sources claim it belongs to a man from Bihar known as Vakil, who is currently absconding. Ranga police station officer Akhilesh Yadav confirmed the action, stating, "The operation was carried out based on leads provided by criminals arrested in Bihar. Further investigation is ongoing to uncover the entire network and supply chain." An FIR has been registered at the Ranga police station.
This development highlights the persistent issue of illegal arms manufacturing in the region and the collaborative efforts of state police forces to dismantle such operations.
