A horrific accident caused by a speeding luxury car resulted in one fatality and left at least fifteen people injured in Jaipur on Friday night. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred near Kharbas Circle on Vande Matram Road in the Mansarovar area, sending shockwaves through the city.
Chaotic Scene Captured on Camera
According to police reports, the high-end Audi vehicle was allegedly involved in a race with another car when the driver lost control. The car first hit a road divider before careening violently into makeshift food stalls set up along the roadside. Eyewitnesses present at the scene described moments of sheer terror and chaos as people had little time to react to the oncoming vehicle.
"The car came at a very high speed, struck the circle, lost control and flew straight into people milling by the roadside," recounted Vijay Choudhary, an eyewitness. He added that the impact led to a huge hue and cry, with several victims writhing in pain on the ground.
Another bystander highlighted the sudden and brutal nature of the crash. "The impact was so sudden that several people were crushed under the vehicle. Some were crushed under the wheels of the car, it was complete mayhem," the person stated, painting a grim picture of the aftermath.
Victims and Aftermath
The man who lost his life in the tragic event was identified as Ramesh Bairwa, a resident of Bhilwara who worked as a helper at one of the food stalls. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
Four of the injured were in critical condition and were referred to the SMS Hospital for advanced treatment. Others were admitted to Jaipuria Hospital. Police officer Kadwasra confirmed that three of the injured were discharged after receiving first aid, while the condition of the others remained a concern.
Driver Flees, Intoxication Suspected
Police identified the Audi driver as Dinesh Rinwa, a businessman. Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been purchased only around three months prior to the accident. In a move that sparked public anger, Rinwa, along with two other occupants, allegedly fled the spot after the crash, abandoning the car.
However, local residents managed to apprehend one of the occupants and handed him over to the police. Authorities have stated that the accused were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. The police have seized the car and also recovered mobile phones from it as part of their ongoing investigation.
The incident prompted immediate reactions from the state's leadership. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed profound grief, calling the accident "extremely tragic and heart-wrenching." He confirmed that instructions had been issued to ensure prompt and proper treatment for all the injured. Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited the injured at Jaipuria Hospital and the SMS Trauma Centre, directing doctors and medical staff to provide the best possible care.
