Thrissur: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) officials on Thursday suspended the licence of a private bus conductor who had prevented students from boarding the bus at Wadakkanchery. The officials stated that his licence would be suspended for three months.
Conductor Directed for Training
The conductor, Ramadas from Mangalam near Wadakkanchery, has also been ordered to undergo a five-day training program at the MVD's Institute of Driver Training and Research (IDTR) in Edappal. Ramadas appeared before the Joint RTO S Sreejith on Thursday morning to provide an explanation, as directed by the MVD.
Sreejith mentioned that the decision to suspend the licence was taken because the explanation submitted by Ramadas was not satisfactory.
Police Drop Further Actions
However, the police have dropped further actions against the conductor, as the students and their parents informed that they do not wish to pursue their complaints. Earlier, a petty case was registered against the conductor, and a fine was imposed. The students had complained that the conductor did not allow them to board the bus even after they informed him that they would travel standing.
A video of one student pleading with the conductor with folded hands to let them enter the bus had gone viral. However, the students later stated that they only want assurance that they will be able to return home as soon as school classes are over, and they are not keen on getting a person ousted from his job, said Wadakkanchery SHO Muraleedharan.
