Rajahmundry: Konaseema police have successfully arrested an inter-district house burglar involved in multiple property offences, cracking 14 theft cases and recovering stolen property valued at Rs 97.5 lakh. The breakthrough came after a detailed investigation into a burglary that occurred on the night of August 30, 2025.

Details of the Initial Crime

The case traces back to August 30, 2025, when an unidentified person broke into a house on Old Bank Street in Kothapeta. The intruder smashed the door locks, entered the premises, and decamped with gold ornaments and cash from a cupboard. Following a complaint from the homeowner, police registered a case (Crime No. 223/2025) under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the BNS at Kothapeta police station and launched a thorough investigation.

Arrest of the Accused

During the probe, police arrested two individuals: Ponnada Ravishankar, a native of Etimoga village in Kakinada district, and Vaira Chiranjeevi, a resident of Anaparthi village in East Godavari district. According to police, the accused targeted houses even when occupants were present. They gained entry by manipulating door tower bolts or breaking locks using a screwdriver before committing theft.

Police revealed that the accused were involved in 14 cases across multiple districts. Stolen property worth Rs 97,50,000, including 646.361 grams of gold ornaments, was recovered from them. The swift action by the police team led to the resolution of these cases.
