A violent altercation stemming from a prolonged drinking session turned fatal in Greater Noida's Sector 150 early Sunday morning. A 47-year-old South Korean national, Duck Hee Yuh, was stabbed to death allegedly by his live-in girlfriend inside their apartment at ATS Pious Hideways.
From Argument to Tragedy: The Fatal Sequence
According to police officials, the incident unfolded between 3 AM and 4 AM on Sunday. Duck Hee Yuh, a resident of Cheongju-si in South Korea, had been drinking continuously since Saturday morning, a fact that deeply upset his partner, Lunjeana Pamai. The 22-year-old woman, originally from Bishnupur in Manipur, attempted to intervene.
"Pamai tried to stop him from drinking. She asked him to have dinner and go to sleep. However, Hee became aggressive, leading to a heated argument," explained Sudheer Kumar, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida). The verbal fight soon escalated into a physical confrontation. Police stated that Hee thrashed Pamai badly during the scuffle.
In retaliation, Pamai allegedly picked up a knife from the dining table and stabbed Hee multiple times in the chest. As Hee collapsed from his injuries, the gravity of the situation dawned on Pamai.
The Aftermath and Police Action
Following the stabbing, Lunjeana Pamai called Hee's driver, Mandeep Singh, and asked him to come to the flat. When Singh arrived early in the morning, Pamai confessed to what had transpired. Singh immediately called an ambulance, and they rushed Hee to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) along with Pamai.
Tragically, Duck Hee Yuh was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Upon learning of his death, Pamai quietly left the hospital premises without informing anyone. Police were alerted about the death by GIMS on Sunday morning.
Based on a complaint filed by driver Mandeep Singh, a case has been registered against Lunjeana Pamai under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Knowledge Park police station. Pamai has been detained for questioning.
Background of the Couple and Past Discord
Investigations revealed that Duck Hee Yuh had been working with a logistics company in Greater Noida for the past decade. He had been in a live-in relationship with Lunjeana Pamai for two years, and they shared the flat in Sector 150. The couple had reportedly met at a party in Gurgaon before starting their relationship. While Hee was employed, Pamai was not working at the time of the incident.
Police sources indicated that the couple had a history of conflicts. Quoting the driver, an officer mentioned they often fought over "trivial matters." Reference was made to an incident just last month where Hee had allegedly become aggressive and abused his girlfriend.
Authorities have informed Hee's family in South Korea, who are now travelling to Noida. The investigation into the exact circumstances and the sequence of events is ongoing.
