Lucknow Engineer's Tragic Death in Saudi Arabia Leads to Dowry Murder Allegations
A young woman engineer from Lucknow has died under highly suspicious circumstances in Saudi Arabia. Her grieving family is now alleging it was a dowry murder. The woman's body arrived back in Lucknow on Tuesday, sparking a police investigation.
Police Register Complaint and Order Post-Mortem
Police officials have registered a formal complaint against the woman's husband and his family members. They sent the body for a detailed post-mortem examination. This procedure aims to determine the exact cause of death.
The deceased has been identified as Aiman Khan. She was just 26 years old. Aiman held a BTech degree in computer science and worked as a software engineer. She resided in the Adarsh Vihar Colony on Malhaur Road within the Chinhat area of Lucknow.
Family Details Marriage and Alleged Dowry Dispute
Her father, Sher Ali Khan, serves as a sub-inspector in the fire department. He stated that Aiman married an engineer from Rae Bareli on April 10, 2025. The family claims she was pregnant at the time of her death.
In his police complaint, Sher Ali made serious allegations. He said substantial dowry was given during the marriage ceremony. However, a dispute arose because the family provided a Kia Seltos car instead of the promised Innova. According to the father, this issue caused immediate tension.
The husband reportedly became angry because the car was not registered in his name. During one argument, he allegedly broke Aiman's iPhone. This marked the beginning of a troubling pattern.
Allegations of Harassment in Saudi Arabia
Sher Ali further alleged that the situation worsened in Saudi Arabia. Aiman faced sustained mental and physical harassment from her husband. His brother and two brothers-in-law also participated in this abuse, according to the complaint.
The family claims Aiman was prevented from starting a new job there. This added to her distress and isolation.
Aiman's Brief Return to India and Final Days
In October 2025, Aiman returned alone to India. She described the ongoing abuse to her family in detail. After discussions and assurances from her husband's side, she reluctantly returned to Jeddah on October 19.
Tragically, the harassment resumed almost immediately upon her return. In her last WhatsApp call to her father on December 17, Aiman made desperate statements. She said she was being denied food and water. Her passport and iqama (residency permit) had been taken away, leaving her trapped.
The very next day, the family received the devastating news of her death.
Police Await Post-Mortem Report for Further Action
Chinhat Station House Officer Dinesh Mishra addressed the media. He confirmed that a complaint is registered and the investigation is active. "Action will follow based on the postmortem report," SHO Mishra stated clearly. The police are treating this case with utmost seriousness.
The community in Lucknow is in shock over this tragic loss. The case highlights grave concerns about the safety of Indian women abroad and the persistent evil of dowry-related violence.
