Man Arrested for Theft of Lamps from Temple

The Kadakkavoor police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the theft of a traditional lamp and a hanging lamp from the Sree Mannarakkavu Madan Thampuran Temple at Kannankara in Manamboor. The accused has been identified as Zulfikar of Charuvila, Kannankara.

Incident Details

According to police officials, the theft occurred during the daytime on June 10. The accused allegedly broke open the temple gate, entered the premises, and stole the valuable items. The entire incident was captured on the temple's CCTV cameras, which provided crucial evidence for the investigation.

Investigation and Arrest

Based on the CCTV footage and subsequent investigation, the police identified Zulfikar as the suspect. At the time of identification, he was already in judicial custody in connection with a separate motorcycle theft case. After securing his custody for questioning, the police interrogated him, during which he allegedly confessed to selling the stolen lamps at a hardware shop near Attingal.

A police team later accompanied him to the shop and successfully recovered the stolen articles. The recovered items were brought to the temple premises, where evidence was collected.

Police Efforts

The investigation was led by Kadakkavoor Station House Officer (SHO) Saiju, with assistance from Sub-Inspector Sajith, Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj, and other police personnel. The police have stated that the accused is involved in several theft and assault cases registered at the Kadakkavoor and Kallambalam police stations.
