Man Shot Dead Over Old Enmity in Bhikhiwind

A 32-year-old man was shot dead in Bhikhiwind area of Amritsar district on Tuesday evening over an old enmity, police said. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of village Chabba. According to the police, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired at Gurpreet Singh when he was standing near a shop in Bhikhiwind. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Incident Details

The incident took place around 7:30 pm in the busy market area of Bhikhiwind. Eyewitnesses told the police that the attackers came on a motorcycle and fired three rounds at Gurpreet Singh before fleeing the spot. The police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and started investigations.

Police Investigation

Senior police officials reached the spot and collected forensic evidence. CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify the accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was a result of an old enmity. The victim's family has also alleged that they had been threatened earlier by the accused. Police are questioning family members and associates to ascertain the motive and identity of the attackers.
