Man Welds Groom's Door Shut Over Wedding Snub in Jalaun

A shocking incident unfolded in the Jalaun Kotwali police station area of Uttar Pradesh, where a man allegedly welded shut the main door of his nephew's house after being insulted over not being invited to the wedding procession. The groom, his bride, and family members were forced to wait outside in the sweltering heat for three to four hours before police intervention.

Background of the Dispute

The incident took place in the Naro Bhaskar neighbourhood of Jalaun district. Nizamuddin, a local resident, lives with his wife, a son, and two daughters. His son, Mohammad Majid (28), who runs a tea shop, got married on April 29. Due to an ongoing property dispute, Majid deliberately did not invite his uncle Mohammad Azhar, Nizamuddin's younger brother, to the wedding.

The Wedding Day Events

On April 29, Majid and his entire family left for Jhansi along with the wedding procession, leaving the house locked. Speaking about the incident, Majid said, "We didn't invite my uncle to my wedding. I left along with the wedding procession on April 29. That night, my uncle Mohammad Azhar reached my house and welded the doors of my house shut with the help of his sons Anas, Kallu, Asad, and Faiz."

Majid further explained that a few days earlier, his uncle had been constructing a gallery in the house that obstructed the way to his home, leading to a dispute. "Due to the same, he wasn't invited to the wedding. My uncle had threatened to disrupt the wedding and create chaos," he added.

The Return and Chaos

When the wedding procession returned on April 30, the groom found the main door welded shut with a new lock attached. Upon asking neighbours, the family discovered that Azhar and his children were responsible. The bride had to sit in the car for about three to four hours in the heat while confusion and chaos reigned outside the house.

Police Intervention

On being informed, the police reached the spot immediately. A fabricator was called in the presence of the police, and the welding was cut using a cutter machine. The lock was also broken, allowing the groom, bride, and family to finally enter the house. Majid demanded strict action against his uncle.

Official Statements

Jalaun Kotwali in-charge Harishankar said, "The police team immediately got the welding removed, allowing the groom and his family to enter the house. Further action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint." CO Shailendra Bajpai confirmed that an investigation is underway. The incident has become a topic of discussion across the entire area, highlighting the bitter fallout of family disputes.
