In a disturbing incident, miscreants allegedly set fire to the waste room of the tahsildar's office in Ilkal, located in Bagalkot district, on Thursday night. The blaze resulted in the destruction of scrap papers and raw materials stored in the room.
Police Investigation Underway
Ilkal Town police reported that the miscreants appear to have damaged CCTV cameras in an attempt to destroy evidence. Empty liquor bottles were also discovered at the scene, leading authorities to suspect that individuals under the influence of alcohol may have carried out the act.
“Miscreants appear to have damaged CCTV cameras to destroy evidence. Empty liquor bottles were also found at the spot. It is suspected that persons in an inebriated state may have carried out the act,” police said.
Official Response
Tahsildar Amaresh Pammar visited the location the same night and stated that CCTV footage is being examined in coordination with the police. A search operation has been launched to apprehend the culprits.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
