Missing Youth's Body Found in Ballia Well, Family Cries Murder

The body of a 22-year-old man was discovered in a well near the Shiv temple in Bansdih town, Ballia district, on Friday morning. Authorities identified the deceased as Surendra Chauhan, a local labourer from ward 10 who had been missing for four days.

Discovery and Initial Findings

Rescue teams pulled the body from the well, which is located approximately 600 metres from Surendra's home. Officials noted visible injury marks on the body, raising immediate concerns about the circumstances of his death. The family members quickly arrived at the scene and expressed their shock and grief.

Family's Allegations and Police Response

Surendra's father, Rajbali Chauhan, stated that his son went missing on January 12. The family filed a formal complaint with the police the very next day, suspecting foul play from the beginning. Rajbali Chauhan alleged that the police did not take their complaint seriously. He claimed officers merely registered it as a missing person case without initiating a proper investigation.

The family is now accusing the police of negligence. Rajbali Chauhan believes that prompt action by the authorities could have saved his son's life. He insists that Surendra's death resulted from murder, followed by the disposal of his body in the well.

Investigation Underway

Senior police officers rushed to the location upon receiving the report. They are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. The police have not yet released an official statement regarding the family's allegations. However, they are examining all evidence, including the injury marks on the body, to determine the exact cause of death.

The case has drawn significant attention in the Varanasi region, highlighting concerns about police responsiveness in missing person reports. Local residents are awaiting further updates as the investigation progresses.
