A 22-year-old nursing student was found dead in her college hostel room in Bengaluru's Bommasandra area on Tuesday. The police recovered a suicide note from the scene, citing personal reasons for the extreme step.
Incident Details
The deceased, identified as Priya (name changed), was a second-year nursing student at a private college. Her roommate raised an alarm when she did not respond to calls in the morning. The hostel authorities broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
The Bommasandra police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. A suicide note was recovered, in which she mentioned being unable to cope with personal issues. No foul play is suspected, and further investigation is underway.
Police Investigation
Senior police officials visited the hostel and recorded statements from the students and staff. The college administration has been asked to provide CCTV footage and other details. The family of the student has been informed and is expected to arrive for the formalities.
This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about mental health support for students in hostels. The police are also probing if there was any harassment or pressure that might have led to the suicide.
