CHENNAI: With the continuing uncertainty over Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) forming the government, more than 100 law officers representing the DMK government and its agencies during its tenure have tendered their resignations. However, they have been instructed to continue for a week until the new government appoints its officers.
Interim Arrangements
"Generally, as an interim measure, the party that forms the government will appoint three or four advocates to represent the government during the summer vacation. But that has not been done so far. Therefore, we will continue as the state cannot be left unrepresented," a law officer said.
Current Representation
At present, the Tamil Nadu government is represented by more than 100 law officers headed by Advocate General P S Raman. As such appointments are predominantly political, the appointments change once the new government takes charge.
Lawyers affiliated to the party that forms the government will be offered posts as soon as the government assumes office.
