Sonbhadra Police Cracks Down on Fuel Black Market in Varanasi

Sonbhadra Police made a significant move on Friday. They arrested three people allegedly involved in the black marketing of diesel and petrol. This action forms part of a special campaign targeting illegal oil traders. Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma directed the operation.

Back-to-Back Raids in Chopan and Anpara

Police conducted consecutive raids in the Chopan and Anpara areas on the same day. Under the supervision of ACP Anil Kumar, CO Randhir Mishra, and CO Traffic Charu Dwivedi, the Chopan police team raided Gurmura. They seized substantial evidence from the site.

The seized items included:

  • 120 litres of illegal diesel stored in 2 drums
  • 20 litres of illegal petrol
  • 1 tanker with registration number CG12AQ3258
  • 5 empty drums with a 200-litre capacity each
  • 2 empty drums with a 50-litre capacity each
  • 2 empty jerry cans of 20 litres
  • 1 motor pump
  • 2 iron scoops

During this raid, police arrested two individuals: Ram Ashish Kumar and Manish Kumar. However, one suspect named Sonu Jaiswal managed to escape from the location.

Second Operation in Anpara Area

In a separate operation within the Anpara police station jurisdiction, officers raided Bairpan. They recovered additional illegal materials from this site.

The recovery included:

  • 180 litres of illegal diesel from 2 drums
  • 50 litres of illegal diesel from 2 jerry cans
  • 3 empty gallons
  • 1 plastic pipe

Police arrested a local resident, Amresh Yadav, during this action. His accomplice, Jagat Yadav, fled from the spot. Both operations demonstrate a coordinated effort to curb illegal fuel trade.

Strict Legal Action Promised

Superintendent of Police Abhishek Verma stated that the strictest legal action will be taken against the accused. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into this black marketing network. If necessary, action will also be initiated under the Gangster Act. This underscores the seriousness with which police are treating these offences.

The raids highlight ongoing efforts to combat illegal oil trading in the region. Police remain vigilant against such activities that disrupt the market and evade regulations.
