In a significant breakthrough, the Bihta police in Patna have apprehended two individuals in connection with a violent assault and high-value robbery targeting a land dealer. The incident, which sent shockwaves through the local community, occurred on December 2 and involved a brazen attack on the dealer and his associates.
Details of the Violent Assault and Robbery
The victim, identified as land dealer Abhishek Kumar, was travelling to Danapur when his SUV was forcibly intercepted. The attack took place near Vishambarpur More. According to the police report, bike-borne assailants blocked the vehicle, allegedly over a dispute related to a land deal.
The attackers did not stop at just blocking the car. They launched a brutal assault, hurling bricks and stones at the occupants of the SUV. After physically assaulting Abhishek Kumar and others in the vehicle, the criminals proceeded to rob them. The loot included a substantial amount of cash, totalling Rs 11 lakh, and two valuable gold chains. The estimated worth of the gold jewellery is around Rs 3 lakh, bringing the total value of the stolen items to approximately Rs 14 lakh.
Police Investigation Leads to Arrests
Following the incident, an FIR was registered which named one specific suspect alongside 10 to 12 other unidentified persons. While most of the accused remain at large, the persistent investigation by the Bihta police has yielded results.
The two individuals now in custody have been identified as Gungun, whose real name is Anurag Singh, hailing from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, and Aditya, also known as Saurabh Kumar, a resident of Vishanpura in Patna itself. Their arrest marks a crucial step in unraveling the case and tracking down the remaining accomplices.
Ongoing Probe and Unanswered Questions
Despite these arrests, key aspects of the case are still unresolved. The police have confirmed that the stolen cash and gold chains are yet to be recovered. The search for the other 10-12 accused individuals mentioned in the FIR is actively ongoing.
