Two Dumper Drivers Arrested for Illegal Dumping Near Atal Setu

Navi Mumbai: Two dumper drivers from Mumbai were arrested for allegedly dumping debris illegally near Atal Setu at Chirle in Uran taluka, said police. The action followed a patrol by security guards and a flying squad of City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), acting on instructions from executive engineer Rajiv Kolap.

Officials said the squad received inputs about unauthorised dumping at the bridge's endpoint and reached the site to take action. Two dumpers were intercepted. Drivers Mahesh Babu Kumbhar (31) of Govandi and Shakir Sajjad Ali (27) of Wadala were detained.

The vehicles were taken to Jasai Police Post. Police alleged the dumping endangered public health, disrupted commuters and defaced notified land. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act and Maharashtra Police Act.
