Police in Pilibhit district have taken two minor boys into official custody for the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy in their village. The accused, aged 11 and 15, were produced before the juvenile justice board and subsequently sent to a juvenile home in Bareilly.
Details of the Alleged Assault
According to the police, the survivor was playing outside his home when the accused allegedly dragged him to a nearby field. The child was subjected to a sexual assault, which included oral sexual assault. The accused then threatened to kill him if he disclosed the incident to anyone.
The matter came to light when the survivor's father, who works in another district, returned home on Thursday. His wife informed him about the incident after the child narrated the ordeal to her. The family then reported the crime to the police.
Legal and Medical Proceedings
The survivor was sent for a medical examination on Friday to the Community Health Centre in Puranpur, as confirmed by Station House Officer (SHO) Pawan Pandey. Police have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
When queried about the case, Pilibhit's Chief Medical Officer, Alok Kumar, commented on medical grounds. He noted that physical and sexual maturity can vary among children and may occur earlier due to multiple factors, including diet and environmental influences.
Current Status and Legal Framework
The two accused minors remain in the juvenile justice system. This case highlights the serious application of the POCSO Act, which is designed to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse. The swift action by the family and police underscores the importance of reporting such crimes to ensure justice for the victim.
