Woman Found With Throat Slit in Meerut Rented Room, Husband Suspect

In a shocking incident in Meerut, a 27-year-old woman was discovered dead with her throat slit in her rented accommodation on Friday morning. The gruesome discovery was made in the Majid Nagar area under the Lisadi Gate police station.

Body Discovered by Landlord's Wife

The victim, identified as Kausar Khatoon, was found after her five-year-old daughter approached the landlord and requested that her father be called. When the landlord's wife entered the room, she found Kausar lying dead. Her three daughters, aged between 1.5 and 5 years, were present in the room, with the two younger children crying. The husband, Mohammad Saqib, an e-rickshaw driver, was not at home at the time and has not been located since.

Attack Occurred While Sleeping

According to police, Kausar was sleeping with her daughters on the first floor on Thursday night when an unidentified assailant allegedly entered and attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. Saqib had left the house earlier that evening. The crime scene was immediately sealed, and forensic teams were called to collect evidence. The body has been sent for postmortem examination.

Police Investigation Underway

SP (City) Vinayak Gopal stated that family members, relatives from both the maternal and in-laws' sides, and frequent visitors to the house are being questioned. “We will proceed further once the postmortem report comes,” he said. The deceased’s elder brother, Mohammad Mursaleen, alleged that about 15 days ago, Saqib had falsely claimed that Kausar fell from the roof but later dismissed it as a joke.

Multiple Angles Probed

Police are investigating multiple angles, including personal enmity and a possible family dispute. CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify any suspicious activity. The husband remains the prime suspect, but no arrests have been made yet.
