Zubeen Garg's cousin Sandipon seeks bail in Gauhati HC

Guwahati: Sandipon Garg, the cousin brother of late singer Zubeen Garg and one of the accused in his death case, has moved the Gauhati High Court seeking bail. The fast-track court established for the speedy trial of the case had rejected Sandipon's bail plea on June 8.

Background of the Case

On May 26, the fast-track court framed a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Sandipon. Following this, he filed a bail plea on May 27, which was subsequently rejected by the same court. The high court is yet to schedule a hearing for the bail petition.

Incident Details

Zubeen Garg had traveled to Singapore on September 17 last year to perform at a festival. Tragically, he died while swimming in the sea on September 19. At the time of the incident, Sandipon was present on the yacht along with other accused, excluding the festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta.
