Water supply to parts of Bicholim was disrupted for two days after the main water pipeline at Muslimwada burst twice, on Thursday and Friday. An official of the drinking water department said the pipeline, which supplies water to a large part of Bicholim, ruptured on Thursday morning, resulting in the wastage of lakhs of litres of water and disturbing the supply schedule.
While repairs were immediately taken up, the water supply could not be restored until late night. However, when supply was resumed on Friday morning, the pipeline burst again following a sudden surge in pressure, leading to further loss of water and prolonging the disruption. The repairs were completed by late Friday evening.
Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye visited the site along with officials to oversee the repair work. The pipeline that supplies water to a large part of Bicholim ruptured on Thursday morning. It burst again on Friday morning after it was repaired and the supply was resumed.
