Government Fully Restores Commercial LPG Supplies
The central government has restored full commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplies following an easing of the West Asia crisis. Bulk LPG supplies, which were fully suspended earlier, have been partially resumed at 50 per cent of pre-crisis consumption levels, according to a statement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Impact of the West Asia Crisis
The crisis in West Asia had disrupted global energy markets, prompting India to initially suspend all bulk LPG supplies to ensure adequate reserves for domestic users. The partial restoration marks a significant step toward normalcy, with the ministry stating that the situation is being monitored continuously.
Details of the Restoration
The ministry's statement, issued on 25 June 2026, confirmed that commercial LPG supplies have been restored to full capacity. Bulk supplies, however, remain at half the pre-crisis level. The government has prioritized domestic consumers throughout the crisis, ensuring uninterrupted supply for household use.
Government's Response and Future Outlook
Officials indicated that further increases in bulk LPG supplies will depend on the stability of the West Asian region. The ministry assured that all measures are in place to maintain adequate LPG stocks for both domestic and commercial sectors. The restoration is expected to ease pressure on businesses reliant on LPG for operations.
