The Yavat police on Tuesday arrested three individuals for the murder of a 39-year-old man inside a restobar at Sahajpur village in Daund taluka. The incident occurred on Monday, and the accused were taken into custody the following day.
Victim and Complainant Details
The deceased has been identified as Dhanraj Bhurke, a resident of Latur. His uncle, Dayanand Bhurke (48), a resident of Pimple Gurav, filed a complaint with the Yavat police. The complainant works as a labour contractor.
Sequence of Events
According to the police, on Monday morning, the complainant, his friend, and Dhanraj Bhurke traveled from Pune to Sahajpur to inspect a worksite where the complainant had deployed workers on contract. After the visit, the trio went to a restaurant and bar for a meal. The suspects—Mauli Jadhav, Vishal Dhende (both from Urali Kanchan), and Navaz Tamboli of Yavat—were seated at a nearby table.
An officer from the Yavat police explained that after finishing their meal, the victim walked toward the washbasin but lost his balance and accidentally fell on one of the suspects. This led to the suspects slapping the victim. The complainant and his friend intervened and subsequently left the bar.
However, the complainant returned to the bar to pay the bill, and the victim followed him, having forgotten his cellphone during the earlier commotion. When the suspects saw the victim again, they attacked him, beating him and striking him with chairs. The complainant and bar staff rescued Bhurke and carried him to their van.
Injury and Death
The complainant reported that the victim had suffered severe injuries and was speaking in a weak voice. By the time they reached Hadapsar, the victim had lost consciousness. The complainant alerted the police control room, and a team from Hadapsar police intercepted them, taking the victim to Sassoon General Hospital. However, doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Arrests and Investigation
The Yavat police registered the complaint on Tuesday and arrested the three suspects. Investigations are ongoing.
