Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD) on Thursday at the Udyog auditorium of the joint commissioner office on the HBTU campus. The meeting focused on the action plan for the financial year 2026-27, with detailed discussions involving public representatives from the Kanpur division on development-related proposals.
Proposals from Six Districts
During the meeting, public representatives from Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya, and Farrukhabad districts presented proposals addressing the developmental needs of their respective areas. CM Yogi emphasized that public representatives possess in-depth knowledge of the geographical, social, and developmental requirements of their regions. He directed that their suggestions and proposals be compiled on a priority basis and forwarded to the government promptly to secure necessary approvals and commence work in a time-bound manner.
Focus on Road Maintenance and Quality
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of recovering compensation from individuals or institutions responsible for damaging PWD roads, as per established rules. He called for effective action to maintain the quality and utility of roads. Additionally, he instructed that projects serving public interest be approved on a priority basis and implemented within stipulated timelines.
Priority Projects
CM Yogi directed officials to ensure prompt action in accordance with the priority order set by public representatives for proposals under the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana, state highways, long and small bridges, ROB/RUB, connecting roads to religious sites, flyovers, and road safety initiatives. He emphasized the need for time-bound, coordinated, and transparent action on all points raised by public representatives. Furthermore, he mandated the participation of concerned public representatives in the bhumi pujan and foundation stone-laying ceremonies of development projects.
No Tolerance for Laxity
The Chief Minister made it unequivocally clear that any negligence in the execution of development works would not be tolerated. Every project must be completed with quality and within the designated timeframe.
Project Statistics
Officials informed the CM that proposals for 344 projects worth Rs 5,523 crore were received from Kanpur Nagar, 217 projects worth Rs 2,058 crore from Kannauj, 339 projects worth Rs 2,016 crore from Farrukhabad, 387 projects worth Rs 1,581 crore from Kanpur Dehat, 33 projects worth Rs 439 crore from Auraiya, and 54 projects worth Rs 104 crore from Etawah. In total, 1,374 projects valued at Rs 11,724 crore were submitted from the six districts of Kanpur division.
Review of Previous Year's Projects
The CM also reviewed projects approved in the previous financial year. It was reported that 2,301 projects worth Rs 5,497 crore were approved in Kanpur division last year, of which 1,242 projects have already been completed, while work on the remaining projects is ongoing. Yogi Adityanath directed that in cases where work has not started despite the completion of the tender process, the concerned firms should be identified and strict action taken. He also recommended the process of blacklisting such firms and registering FIRs against them.
