A tragic incident occurred in the Tungri area of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, where a five-year-old girl died after reportedly getting trapped inside a parked car. The girl, identified as Ishani, and her elder brother Ankit (7) had entered the vehicle to escape the scorching afternoon heat on Wednesday.

Incident Details

The siblings, residents of Tungri, were returning home from school when they sought relief from the intense heat by entering an abandoned car parked outside the Green Flats compound near the SPG Mission Compound locality. According to police, within minutes of entering the stationary vehicle, both children began experiencing breathing difficulties.

Ishani soon started gasping for breath and lost consciousness. Ankit managed to open the car door, escape, and run towards his house to seek help. On his way, he spotted his grandfather on the street and urged him to rush to the car to rescue Ishani.

Medical Response

By the time the grandfather reached the vehicle, the girl's condition had deteriorated significantly. She was immediately taken to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. Sadar police station officer-in-charge Hiralal Mahato stated that asphyxiation appears to be the cause of death, pending the post-mortem examination report.

Investigation Underway

The police are investigating the incident. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received. The incident highlights the dangers of children accessing unattended vehicles, especially during extreme weather conditions.
