With strong signals that the State Election Commission (SEC) is poised to announce municipal elections in Telangana, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has swiftly shifted into campaign mode. The party has begun a series of crucial preparatory meetings with its district-level leadership to chart its course for the urban local body polls.
Strategic Meetings Signal BRS Campaign Kick-off
BRS working president and key strategist, KT Rama Rao (KTR), is leading the charge from the front. On Friday, he convened a strategic session with the party's Karimnagar district president and other core leaders. This followed an identical meeting held on Thursday with leaders from the erstwhile Warangal district. The discussions focused exclusively on formulating a winning strategy for the impending municipal elections.
The party's confidence is riding high on its performance in the recent gram panchayat elections. BRS secured victories in over 4,000 village panchayats, a result that KTR interprets as a clear barometer of shifting political winds in the state. Addressing his party cadre, he framed this outcome as direct public feedback against the Congress government.
KTR Attacks Congress Record, Highlights BRS Legacy
In his interactions with leaders, KTR launched a sharp critique of the two-year-old Congress administration led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He asserted that public resentment has grown due to "24 months of deceit and governance failures in all sectors." He positioned the panchayat results as undeniable evidence of popular frustration with what he termed "Revanth's ineffective governance."
KTR predicted even more significant setbacks for the Congress in the urban civic polls. He instructed BRS workers to aggressively highlight the persistent issues plaguing cities and towns over the past two years. "The present government has failed on all fronts, from sanitation to streetlights," he alleged. KTR claimed that under the Congress, not a single rupee has been spent in urban areas, leading to municipalities becoming synonymous with problems. He accused the ruling party of merely reinstating plaques on projects initiated during the BRS tenure without contributing any new development.
Call to Action: BRS Aims to Restore "Pink Flag" Glory
Contrasting the current scenario with the BRS's decade-long rule, KTR recalled the transformation and growth witnessed in municipalities during that period. He urged his party to remind voters of the numerous development programs implemented then.
Emphasizing the need for total preparedness, KTR stated, "People have already rejected Congress in the panchayat elections, and both rural and urban voters are once again turning towards the BRS." He gave a rallying cry to the party cadre, asking them to work "like soldiers at the borders" with unwavering dedication to restore the former glory of the party's pink flag in the upcoming municipal elections.
