State Congress president Jitu Patwari launched a sharp attack on the BJP in Bhopal on Monday. He accused the ruling party of hypocrisy over its stance on cow protection. Patwari asserted that the BJP's professed love for cows is merely confined to speeches. He pointed to a significant increase in beef exports from India during the BJP's tenure.
Patwari's Press Conference Allegations
Addressing journalists at the state Congress office, Patwari did not mince words. He claimed the BJP, which constantly portrays itself as a protector of cows, is deeply involved in cow slaughter and the beef trade. Patwari highlighted that this involvement extends to enjoying tax benefits from these activities.
Recalling Past Mockery and Present Reality
Patwari reminded the audience of previous exchanges. He said when the Congress party earlier questioned the beef trade, BJP leaders and the Chief Minister mocked them. They allegedly asked why taxes were needed if cows were not being slaughtered. Patwari stated that the truth is now visible to everyone in the state.
"The BMC is under BJP control," Patwari argued. "Tons of beef were discovered in slaughterhouses. This clearly shows the stark difference between the BJP's words and their actual actions."
Accusations of Promotion and Profit
The Congress leader leveled serious charges. He alleged the BJP has not only failed in its duty to protect cows. Patwari claimed the party has actively promoted cow slaughter and the meat trade. He further accused them of profiting by imposing a zero percent tax on these activities.
Patwari's statements aim to paint a picture of contradiction. He suggests the BJP's public rhetoric on cow protection stands in direct opposition to its policies and the ground reality.
