This solo approach represented their first independent campaign for civic body polls since 1999. The numbers reveal the selective nature of their campaign. Out of the total 2,869 seats available across Maharashtra's local bodies, the Congress chose to contest only 528 seats. By Friday evening, election trends placed Congress in fourth position among political parties in terms of seats won specifically within Mumbai. However, when considering all local body elections across Maharashtra, the party climbed to third position overall. Only the BJP and Shiv Sena secured more seats statewide than the Congress.
Congress Leading in Multiple Civic Bodies
