Himachal Pradesh Government Executes Major IPS Officer Reshuffle

In a significant administrative overhaul, the Himachal Pradesh government has transferred a total of 14 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This move, announced on Thursday, marks a substantial restructuring within the state's police department, affecting key positions across multiple districts and specialized units.

Key Postings and Replacements in District Police

Sanjeev Gandhi, who recently received a promotion to the position of Director General of Police (DGP), has been relieved from his duties as Shimla Superintendent of Police (SP). His services have been placed with the Department of Personnel, and he is anticipated to be assigned a role outside the traditional police department framework. Gaurav Singh, previously serving as SP Solan, will now assume the critical role of SP Shimla, stepping into Gandhi's former responsibilities.

Further changes include Tiruamalaraju SD Varma, the current Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) to the Governor, who has been appointed as SP Solan. He will be succeeded by Sandeep Kumar Bhardwaj, who transitions from his role as SP at the State Human Rights Commission in Shimla to become the new ADC to the Governor.

In Una district, Sachin Hiremath has been named the new SP, moving from his previous assignment as SP of the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB) in Mandi. He replaces Amit Yadav, who has been instructed to report to the police headquarters located in Shimla.

Promotions and Appointments to DIG Positions

The reshuffle also encompasses several promotions to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) ranks. Rohit Malpani, recently elevated to DIG, will now serve as DIG Cybercrime in Shimla, continuing his focus on digital security matters. Dr Ramesh Chander Chhajta, previously SP on Leave Reserve, has been appointed as DIG for Prisons & Correctional Services, also based in Shimla.

Devakar Sharma, who was Commandant of the 4th Indian Reserve Battalion in Jangalberi, has been promoted to DIG for Intelligence & Security in Dharamshala. His former position will be filled by Arvind Chaudhary, who is currently serving as SP on Leave Reserve in Shimla.

Additional Significant Transfers and Charges

In Mandi, Sakshi Verma has been reassigned as SP for the State Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV & ACB), Mandi. She will be succeeded by Vinod Kumar, a 2006-batch Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS) officer who has been serving as Assistant Inspector General (AIG) for Traffic, Tourist, and Railway (TTR) in Shimla.

Dr DK Chaudhary, Principal of the Police Training College in Daroh, Kangra district, has been shifted to the role of Inspector General of Police (IG) for Armed Police & Training in Daroh, Kangra. This move relieves Bimal Gupta, IG for SV & ACB in Shimla, of his additional responsibilities in that capacity. Chaudhary's former position will be taken over by Soumya Sambasivan, IG for the Northern Range in Dharamshala, who has been granted additional charge as Principal of the Police Training College in Daroh.

Furthermore, Abhishek Dular, an IG who was previously awaiting posting, has been transferred to the position of IG for Communication & Technical Services in Shimla, rounding out this comprehensive administrative realignment.
