HSSC Announces Major Vacancy Increase for Stenography Posts in Haryana

The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has made a significant announcement regarding the recruitment process under Advertisement Number 3/2026, dated January 9, 2026. In a recent development, the commission has revised the number of available vacancies upward following fresh requisitions from various concerned departments across the state.

Revised Vacancy Numbers for Steno Typist Positions

According to the updated notification issued with the approval of competent authorities, the vacancy count has been substantially increased across multiple categories. The revision specifically affects positions listed under Group Number 2 and Group Number 3, which are crucial for candidates preparing for stenography-related government posts in Haryana.

For Steno Typist (English) positions under Group No. 2, the Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Haryana, through requisition No. 1370, has requested additional recruitment. Previously advertised with 486 vacancies, the revised count now stands at 586 positions. This represents an addition of 100 new posts under this specific category.

For Steno Typist (Both Language) posts under Group No. 3, the Directorate of State Audit, Haryana, via requisition No. 2895, has increased the vacancy count from 696 to 702 positions. This adjustment adds six additional opportunities for aspiring candidates in this linguistic category.

Substantial Rise in Junior Scale Stenographer Opportunities

The most notable increase comes in the Junior Scale Stenographer (Both Language) category under Group No. 3. Based on requisition No. 1178 from Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited and requisition No. 2897 from the Directorate of State Audit, Haryana, the vacancy numbers have seen a dramatic rise.

Previously listed at 173 positions, the revised count now stands at 260 vacancies. This represents an addition of 87 new posts, marking one of the most significant expansions in this recruitment cycle for stenography positions within Haryana's government sector.

Important Procedural Updates for Applicants

The commission has clarified an important procedural aspect regarding department preferences. According to the updated guidelines, department preferences will only be collected from candidates who successfully qualify the stenography skill test. This means applicants must first clear the mandatory skill assessment before being considered for specific department allocations.

Furthermore, due to the substantial increase in available positions, the HSSC has postponed the opening date of the online application portal. Originally scheduled to open on February 2, 2026, the portal will now become accessible to candidates on February 6, 2026.

Aspiring applicants are strongly advised to regularly check the official HSSC website for further updates and ensure they complete their applications within the specified timeline once the portal becomes operational.
